Shubhangi Swarup, an award-winning Indian English writer and journalist, presents her debut novel Latitudes of Longing (2018), recently translated into German as Breiten des Verlangens. Swarup’s novel follows a tectonically active faultline passing through different parts of South Asia. In her own words, “I spent seven years living and researching in those places, as I was keen to avoid the outsider gaze, and tried very hard to situate myself in the geography and geology, not just culture or language.”
