Chamber Choir
The chamber choir, Camerata Carolina, is a group of about 40 members with above-average musical and vocal capabilities. This distinguished, well-traveled choir has shown its exceptional quality in many concerts, both in Germany and abroad. The repertoire includes a cappella works from the Baroque through Modern periods, oratories, as well as pop songs. In addition to its semester concerts, the Camerata appears as a guest at University events.
Camerata Carolina takes part in various international choir competitions highly successfully:
- At the World Choir Games in Riga (2014), in which over 200 choirs from all over the world participated, Camerata Carolina gained gold!
- At the 2008 international choir competition in Riva del Garda, Camerata Carolina received a golden and a silver certificate.
- In April 2012, the Camerata reached the 1st place at the choir challenge of the radio station Südwestrundfunks in Mannheim.
Rehearsals are held Tuesdays from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. (also during semester holidays, except in August) in the basement of the Max-Weber-Haus (Ziegelhäuser Landstr. 17, Heidelberg). Additional rehearsal days take place about twice a semester, by arrangement.
Do you enjoy singing, challenging yourself musically, and have high performance goals? Then you’re in the right place! An audition with the choir director to determine vocal range is required. We are always looking for capable singers for our concerts in Heidelberg and abroad.
