Arabic Dialectology: Workshop 12 – 13 June 2020
Cancelled due to the Corona crisis!
For the last 50 years the Department of Semitic Studies in Heidelberg has been one of the most important research centres for Semitic dialectology in Europe.
Its consistent focus on dialectology of Arabic and Aramaic attracts scholars and students alike to develop their dialectological research methodology under the consultation of experts.
We invite students and PhD students to participate in the two-day Arabic Dialectology: Workshop—an intense block seminar with classes held by prominent field researchers, including Werner Arnold, Peter Behnstedt, Shabo Talay and Manfred Woidich.
During several working sessions led by experienced dialectologists practical issues such as methodology, fieldwork preparation, gathering dialectological material, field research recordings, transcription, grammatical questionnaires, etc. will be addressed and exercised in a group setting.
Practical information
• The workshop will be held in English.
• The workshop is aimed at students and PhD students.
• Participation in the workshop is free of charge.
• The organisers do not cover accommodation/travel costs. Refreshments
will be provided during the workshop.

admission.
