The research project
In his Dissertation, Marius Melzer focusses on the reasons for different performances of states in environmental policy. He expects that the regime type is important for the quality of environmental programmes. Melzer researches with a nested analysis: At first, he is analyzing statistical data and comparative international environmental policy studies to find out what conditions are necessary for a successful environmental policy. Afterwards, he conducts qualitative-oriented case-studies to learn about how states of different regime types use their governance-instruments. In the end, Melzer wants to clarify which efficiency and sustainability the government-programmes have for the preservation and improvement of their national environment. Prof. Dr. Reimut Zohlnhöfer and Prof. Dr. Manfred G. Schmidt are the supervisors of his project.
