The Human Animal: Scientific, Social and Moral Perspectives
1- 6 August 2011 at the EMBL Advanced Training Centre (ATC) Heidelberg, Germany
Deadline: 29.5.2011
This Summer School is an initiative jointly sponsored by European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO). EMBL/EMBO 4S will explore how new know-how and technologies emerging from the biological sciences are forcing us to re-examine our worldview, our conception of living organisms, species boundaries and the nature of life.
We are inviting PhD students and postdocs from the life sciences, the social sciences and the humanities to apply for participation. Twenty applicants will be selected and the admission fee will be 100 Euros. A few travel grants will be made available and offered where most needed. A total of 14 tutors originating from a range of disciplines will give presentations and guide the discussions throughout the week.
A letter of motivation is requested before the submission deadline 29 May 2011, as a part of the registration process.
We would be delighted if you could help us circulate this announcement.
