The Terra Foundation for American Art is committed to supporting projects designed to engage audiences around the globe in an enriched dialogue on American art. The fellowships and academic opportunities seek to enliven and expand the study of the history of American art by encouraging the participation of scholars worldwide. The foundation offers different kinds of fellowships to doctoral and postdoctoral researchers.
Doctoral & Postdoctoral Research Travel Grants to the United States
These grants provide funding for doctoral students and postdoctoral scholars outside the United States to travel to the United States for research on topics concerning American art and visual culture prior to 1980.

Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowships in London and Paris
The Terra Foundation for American Art Teaching Fellowships seek to increase the opportunities in Europe for graduate study of historical American art while providing recipients the opportunity to pursue individual study and research. The fellowships are offered by The Courtauld Institute of Art, London, and the Institut National d’Histoire de l’Art, Paris.
