Calls Transfer Measures

Goals: Strengthening the transfer of knowledge between research, society and politics, raising the profile of the humanities at Heidelberg University.

The funds of the University of Excellence are earmarked for a specific purpose, they serve the strategic further development of the University in the field of top-level research and may only be used for the purpose of raising the profile of the Field of Focus 3 or Heidelberg University, internal and external networking, the promotion of young researchers and transfer.

Object of funding: Heidelberg University wants to increasingly address topics from politics and society in its research and also communicate the results of its research to politics and society. In this context, Field of Focus 3 supports projects that design and implement science communication as well as policy advice for the humanities. Science communication is to be understood as a reciprocal process between politics/society and science. In particular, but not exclusively, the transfer of knowledge is intended to strengthen the profile of the key research areas of Field of Focus 3. These topics are:

  • Knowledge Research
  • Cultural Heritage (in cooperation with the Flagship Initiative Transforming Cultural Heritage)
  • Disorder/Disorder/Transformation
  • Corporeality/Embodiment/Synaesthetics/Interaction
  • Friendship/Hostility

It is recommended that you contact colleagues working on thematically related projects that have already received funding before submitting an application. Further information on the research priorities in FoF 3 can be found under the link below.

Type of funding: Material and personnel resources (auxiliary staff) can be applied for. Funding for basic equipment items is generally possible (this applies to workplace equipment, consumables, etc.).

Maximum application amount: EUR 8,000 (justified exceptions are possible after consultation)

All employees of Heidelberg University with at least a degree are eligible to apply. The application and involvement of junior researchers is strongly encouraged.

Required information:

  • Project title
  • Abstract on project idea and implementation (max. 2,000 characters)
  • Communication concept/project plan (max. 10,000 times) comprehensive:
    • Brief justification of communication/transfer requirements
    • Description of: Objective, target group, strategic approach
    • Plan of measures, work program with time and cost plan (broken down by calendar year)
    • Evaluation plan
  • Short information on the applicants (max. 0.5 pages)
  • Maximum of 10 pages in total (standard font size etc.)
