Dr Martina Engelbrecht-Greilich (born in 1982) is an Academic Councilor at the Faculty of Modern Languages at Heidelberg University.

After studying European Art History and English Philology, she earned her doctorate in 2013 from the Faculty of Philosophy at Heidelberg University with a dissertation on the change in form and function of architectural descriptions in the 18th century.

She has been employed at Heidelberg University since 2008 and has worked in various positions, including Coordinator of an SFB/Transregio initiative (2008 to 2011) and Managing Director of the Research Council for Field of Focus 3 (2013 to 2017). Her current responsibilities include coordinating faculty-specific and cross-faculty study programs, overseeing quality assurance measures, and managing interdisciplinary, cross-faculty research initiatives.

Dr Engelbrecht-Greilich is the Equal Opportunities Commissioner for Literary Studies at the Faculty of Modern Languages. She is also a voting member of the Faculty Council, the Landesgraduiertenförderung-Commission of the Faculty of Modern Languages, and the heiDOCS 2.0 Commission of the Council for Graduate Studies.

Her teaching and research focus on the verbal and written representation of works of visual art, the reception of architecture in public discourse, and historical and sociological issues of urban development and planning.

Dr Engelbrecht-Greilich is married and has a daughter.

She has been a member of the University Council since July 2024.
