Analysis and improvement of local governance structures in the context of floodwater management in Northeast-Thailand
In the course of global climate change many experts expect a growth in the intensity and frequency of climatic disasters in many regions. For the research area Dan Sai in Northeastern Thailand, increases of droughts and heavy rain events resulting in floods are predicted in particular. The project analyzes the social factors that affect the impact of climatic changes on the local population. A focus is laid on the analysis of conflict potentials that result from different demands of the involved local actors and that considerably impede the implementation of effective governance mechanisms.
