Newsletter IBF University Heidelberg I/2022
Dear
IBF-Users,
in
this following newsletter we would like to give you all the
information regarding the current situation and organisation of the
IBF:
Limitation
of mouse stock:
Due to
staff shortage and construction the full utilization of our units is
still restricted.
Furthermore,
our four outdated large autoclaves can’t function at their full
capacity and according to the consensual opinion of the department of
occupational safety, construction steps have to be taken.
New
service in animal care:
After
four years of working with the French company Animalliance
a new provider of animal care services won the last tender.
From
the 01. June we will be cooperating with Charles River and we are
hoping to then be able to counteract our staff shortage.
At
this point we would like to thank each and every one for their
support during this critical phase.
Price
increases:
As
everyone else we are also affected by price increases due to shipping
costs and material shortage.
Whereas
the prices for the animal care itself will be determined by rectorate
resolution, material which we are directly selling to our users will
be passed on with increased prices effective immediately.
Some
research groups will above all observe these adjustments when buying
animal feed.
Check
with our secretariat if you have any further questions.
Animal
Courses:
Due to
staff shortage in carrying out the practical part of the animal
courses, which had to take place with twice the regular frequency in
order to reduce the number of participants due to corona
restrictions, we have to reduce the amount of animal courses offered.
Waiting
times are to be expected.
Billing
sheet:
The
inquiry for financial means we were expected to perform made many
processes very complicated. This now led to a revision. A
departmental note from the rectorate will establish that correct
information has to be given in order to use services of the IBF.
We
therefore ask for compliance.
