The Master's Degree in Political Science
The Master’s program in Political Science comprises four semesters. It is designed for students who have graduated from a three-year (or more) program with a Bachelor’s degree and wish to pursue further academic studies in the field of Political Science in a research-oriented environment.
The MA program reflects the main research fields within the Institute of Political Science, most notably comparative politics in general, democracy studies and public policy, conflict research, and institutional analysis in particular. It allows students to determine their own areas of special interest within the range of courses offered and thus to develop an individual profile.
Students become actively involved in the current scholarly debates and in ongoing research projects at the Institute of Political Science.
The Master's program is mainly taught in German. Due to the fact that only a few courses are held in English, German language skills are required. Students can take German classes at the Heidelberg University during summer.
