Universität Heidelberg leads Germany in life sciences and medicine
Among the world’s leading universities, Ruperto Carola placed 55th in the current QS World University Ranking (published on 11 September 2012). In Germany, Heidelberg ranks second just behind Munich’s Technical University.
In the QS World University Rankings by subject area 2012, Heidelberg took first place in Germany in the life sciences and medicine, as in the previous two years. These subjects are currently ranked 36th worldwide, representing a two-point improvement over last year. Other subject areas also scored among the world's top 50, including the natural sciences (31) and the arts and humanities, which climbed four places to 35th.
Overall four universities in Germany made the ranking’s top 100. Among the European universities, Ruperto Carola ranks 15th.
The QS World University Ranking rates academic reputation, faculty/student ratio, citations per faculty, employer reputation and the proportion of international faculty and students. The analysis is based on statistics as well as surveys among academics and employers.
