Universität Heidelberg Successful in THE Ranking

Ruperto Carola maintains its position among the top international universities
Heidelberg University ranks 78th in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking, confirming its high standing among the world’s leading universities as well as placing it 3rd among the top universities in Germany.
Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and Göttingen University rank first and second in Germany respectively. Humboldt University of Berlin is the fourth German institution to make it into the top 100 in the ranking, which was published 3 October 2012. Seven other German universities rank between 101st and 200th in the list.
With the publication of the THE ranking, Heidelberg University now ranks among the top three universities in Germany in all three of the major international rankings, making it one of the world’s 100 best in each.
The ranking is based on various indicators in five areas of performance, with teaching, research and citations assigned a 30% weighting each. An international outlook and third-party funding from industry are also considered to a lesser extent.
