Universität Heidelberg climbs 10 places to 68th

In the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking 2013, Heidelberg University notably improved its standing in the international comparison: Ruperto Carola jumped ahead a full ten places in this year's list, earning it 68th in the ranking. It thereby reaffirmed its position in the league of Germany's top three universities, behind Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich (55) and Georg August University of Göttingen (63). In all, six German universities are represented in the world's top 100. This year's THE Ranking rates Ruperto Carola at 17th among universities in Europe, up six places from last year.

The THE ranking is based on various indicators in five areas of performance, with teaching, research and citations assigned a 30% weighting each. Other areas analysed include internationalisation (worth 7.5%) and industry income (worth 2.5%).
