Heidelberg University ranks third Germany-wide – improves by four places internationally
Heidelberg University is again among the top three best universities in Germany. In the QS World University Ranking 2017/2018 it is in third place after Technical University of Munich (64th) and Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (66th). At the international level, Heidelberg University ranks 68th and has improved by four places since last year. Across Europe it places 20th (last year 21st). Heidelberg and the two Munich universities are the only ones from Germany represented in the top 100 in the QS Ranking.
The QS World University Ranking weights academic reputation (40 percent), faculty-student ratio and citations per faculty (20 percent each). Other criteria are employer reputation (10 percent) and the share of international scholars and international students (5 percent each). The ranking currently rates nearly 960 universities from over 80 countries.
