Joint Research and Teaching Projects
29 July 2011
Heidelberg University and the National Yang-Ming University of Taipei (Taiwan) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding intensifying the cooperation established between them approximately five years ago. The aim is to step up collaboration above all in the fields of neurosciences, pharmacy and biotechnology via joint research programmes involving scientists from both universities and exchange programmes for students and young academics. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed in mid July by Heidelberg University Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Thomas Rausch and Prof. Dr. Wan-Jr Syu, Vice-Rector of the National Yang-Ming University, on the occasion of a bilateral symposium organised by the two universities.
This fourth meeting of scientists from the two universities was largely devoted to the topic “Multidisciplinary Cooperation in Molecular and Cellular Medical Research”. Blueprints for new research projects were discussed as a basis for ongoing and future collaboration. The National Yang-Ming University was established in 1975 as a medical college. University status was conferred on it in 1994. Its chief scientific interests centre on biosciences and life sciences.
