Reception for Visiting Scientists and Scholars at Universität Heidelberg

Vice-Rector for International Affairs welcomes guests from abroad

At the beginning of the new year Heidelberg University will be welcoming its visiting scientists and scholars as well as their families with a festive ceremony at the Old University on Friday, 8 February 2013. The reception will also be attended by international guests of the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), the Max Planck Institutes in Heidelberg, the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and the Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies (HITS). Also invited are the hosts of the researchers from abroad.

The event will be opened by Prof. Dr. Thomas Pfeiffer, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of Heidelberg University. In a lecture entitled „From DNA tot he Tree of Life“, held in English, Prof. Dr. Michael Wink from the Institute of Pharmacy and Molecular Biotechnology of Heidelberg University will give an insight into current research on evolutionary history. Approx. 150 guests are expected to attend the reception.

Heidelberg University has always been international in its scope. It is integrated into a worldwide network of cooperative research and teaching ventures. It operates exchange schemes with over 400 universities all over the world and maintains 19 privileged university partnerships with universities abroad. In addition, Heidelberg University is involved in a large number of research and teaching collaborations at faculty, department and chair levels.
