Access and Use

With our summary of records (only in German) you can make yourself familiar with our holdings. All the material stored at the Heidelberg University Archives is classified in six sections, each of which endowed with a choice box leading you to more precise subcategories. In this way you can obtain basic information on particular items, including content, date, quantity, the type of finding aid (Findmittel) and more. If available, a link to the corresponding online finding aid will be provided as well. Please note that we had to disregard very small record groups and material that is still being processed. Documents obtained only recently are not included either.

Opening hours:

Tuesday: 9.00 am - 18.00 pm
Wednesday: 9.00 am - 18.00 pm
Thursday: 9.00 am - 12.30 pm

We ask all our users to pay attention to the legal framework of the Heidelberg University Archives (ordinance, terms and conditions of use [both in German] and rules of the reading room), the archival legislation of Baden-Württemberg [HTML / PDF] and our scale of charges (to be obtained from the supervisory staff).

Materials requested on site before 12.30 pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays are sure to be retrieved by 2 pm, or otherwise the next morning.
