Heidelberg Natural Sciences among the World’s Best
International rankings place Ruperto Carola among top German universities
In the area of life sciences, Heidelberg University is one of the top universities in the world. Under rankings by faculty, the QS World University Ranking 2011 puts Heidelberg in the top 30 universities in the world and in the best three in Germany. At 30th in the worldwide ranking, Ruperto Carola is the third best university in Germany for life sciences. Heidelberg physics, astronomy and chemistry place second in all of Germany in these individual subjects.
Ruperto Carola also fared well in the life sciences and medicine in the QS Rankings 2011. At 38th, it is the best German university in this subject and among Europe’s top eight. Only one other German university made it into the world’s top 50.
In the Shanghai Ranking of World Universities 2011, physics and chemistry were likewise rated among the best. Heidelberg placed 43rd in physics internationally, making it the third best in Germany. At 61st in the world, chemistry at Heidelberg is among Germany’s top five.
Physics and chemistry at Heidelberg University were also among the leaders in the physical sciences in the Times Higher Education Ranking 2011, in which the university ranks 30th. This makes Ruperto Carola one of only two German and eight European universities that made it into the world’s top 30.
