CareerA wide range of further education opportunities for alumni and students

The end of studies, when students become "alumni" of the university, does not also mean the end of learning: "Lifelong Learning" stands for the acquisition of knowledge, qualifications and skills by adults and is therefore a focus of the university's heiSKILLS Competence and Language Center, with which HAI cooperates. For all our alumnae and alumni, we once again have interesting further education offers in our program that are helpful for studies, career and life in general - and some of them are even open to the partners of our alumni!

Online course "German as a foreign language" for HAI members and partners

Your stay in Heidelberg was a long time ago, there is little left of the German you learned back then and you could do with a refresher for your next vacation? Or do you simply want to delve deeper into a foreign language and learn it systematically? Then the online courses for German as a foreign language at the International Study Center (ISZ) are the right thing for you!

Many international alumnae and alumni are already familiar with the ISZ language courses from the early days of their time in Heidelberg. Now alumni registered with HAI, as well as their partners, can take language lessons there (again), which are designed as online video conferences. The courses are offered for all levels from A1 (zero beginner) to C2 (advanced). You can complete one course per semester and take the next higher course in the following semester. All courses train the four basic skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing and also provide information about the country. The current courses in the summer semester, for which we have received more than 50 registrations, run from April 16 to July 25. The fee is 195 euros per person. If we have now piqued your interest, you can take an online course in the winter semester and benefit from this new offer! Write to us at service@alumni.uni-heidelberg.de

New basic course "Business English" starts in fall 2024

The "Business English" language course exclusively for HAI members, which we have been offering in cooperation with heiSKILLS since the winter semester 2022/2023, has proved to be very popular. In addition to the highly popular basic course, we now also have an advanced course in our program, which started for the first time in autumn 2023 and was also very successful. After completing this module, the next basic course will start again in fall 2024, for which interested alumni and alumnae can already register now without obligation in order to receive information on the announcement and start of registration in good time - simply send an email to karriere@alumni.uni-heidelberg.de

The online course "Business English" was the first language course offered by the Central Language Lab (ZSL) as part of heiSKILLS specifically for HAI members. In the basic course, participants deal with topics such as CVs for job applications, appropriate wording in business emails and professional presentations.

Online webinar on professional networking with LinkedIn

The social media platform LinkedIn is very popular for professional networking. A new webinar series specifically for universities and alumni groups provides students and alumni with insights and practical tips to help them optimize their LinkedIn presence and strategically expand their professional networks. We are offering these three-part online seminars in June 2024 in both German and English on three dates each week. This offer is free of charge for HAI members, HAI will cover the course fees.

The webinars, which build on each other, can be booked individually or in a pack of three - but we recommend attending all of them. On the first date, which will be offered in English on June 4 and in German on June 6, the focus will be on the personal LinkedIn profile as a brand and online business card. The second session on June 12 (English) and 13 (German) will focus on how to network strategically and efficiently on LinkedIn. At the third event on June 19 (English) and 20 (German), tips and tricks will introduce you to the secrets of successful LinkedIn posts. All three webinars will last 90 minutes including a Q&A session. The participation link will be sent to you after registration.
