J. S. Bach: "h-moll-Messe"
J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor is unique for music lovers in a special way. The tonal magnificence and complexity of the “greatest musical work of art of all times and peoples” in choral music will be presented by Camerata Carolina chamber choir.
The Mass in B minor is probably one of the greatest and most important works of Christian choral music. And its composition probably took decades: Bach wrote the Sanctus as early as 1724 for the first Advent Mass, the Missa brevis consisting of Gloria and Kyrie was composed in 1733 and it was not until 1749 that Bach expanded the Mass into its completed form. A first performance during Bach's lifetime is not known, even though his pupil Christophe Nichelmann praised the “emphatic effect” of the piece as early as 1755.
In 2015, UNESCO declared Bach's Mass in B minor a World Heritage.
The Camerata Carolina chamber choir is joined by renowned soloists: Altus Nils Wanderer; Soprano Friederike Beykirch; Tenor Hans Joerg Mammel; Bass Marcel Brunner. The orchestral part will be played by Karlsruher Barockorchester. Conductor is Franz Wassermann.
