From personal career counselling to offers such as mentoring, internships at home and abroad, job and scholarship board, workshops and language courses – in cooperation with other departments of the university as well as committed alumnae and alumni, HAI has numerous offers ready for interested parties.
Alumni who have already gained experience in professional life are welcome to get involved as speakers, career contacts or mentors and to provide students or young graduates with professional orientation.
Services
Individual Career Counselling
At the end of their studies, as well as during the career entry phase, network members can receive individual advice with a CV check, tips and information on job searches and different industries and fields of work. Based on individual questions and needs, an application strategy can be developed in a personal conversation atmosphere.
Mentoring
Mentoring allows structured outreach to dedicated network members in Germany and abroad who would like to share their experiences from daily work, research and their living environment. Network members can benefit directly from the tips and expertise of others or share their experiences.
Starting a Career: Heidelberg Alumni Report
Graduates of Heidelberg University who have successfully mastered their career entry report on their experiences, provide information and tips that can make the starting phase easier. The very authentic discussions, which can be held digitally or in person, will be decisively shaped by the questions posed by the participants.
Language Courses
Refresh and expand your language skills to enhance your professional competence: HAI members have the opportunity to take a language course at Heidelberg University at student rates. Take advantage of the opportunity to expand your professional and career skills in online courses from the comfort of your own home.
Courses to expand skills
Whether soft skills, specialised knowledge or digital skills: members of the HAI network can continue their education and development in a university environment in practice-oriented courses of various kinds. The skills enhancement programmes teach new skills and techniques that expand professional, subject-specific qualifications or personal skills and abilities.
Internships at Home or Abroad
Offers for internships in Germany and abroad from HAI members for enrolled Heidelberg students or students who are in between two study phases or whose exmatriculation was no longer than six months ago. For the expansion of the program, further offers are very welcome.
Financial Support
Thanks to donations from engaged alumni, HAI offers the following scholarships: Graduation Grants as well as the Amirana Scholarship to bridge financial emergencies; scholarships for American students; HAIreconnect scholarships for short-term stays of international guest scientists or young researchers at Neckar river.
Online Platform for Jobs, Scholarships, Internships
On the online platform HAInet you will find selected job offers, student assistant jobs, internships as well as postings of research awards, scholarship opportunities and much more. HAI members can reach out to potential and talented junior staff, interns or experienced employees for their company/institution.
University Further Education
During the career finding phase, HAI members can continue using the education and training offered by the university's Career Service at student rates which is a good opportunity to expand competencies or take courses for which there was no time during university studies or for which one had no idea the content would be needed in professional life.
