Inform interested persons about studying and living in Heidelberg and attract them to the university
“What subjects can I study in Heidelberg? Do I have to be able to speak German to study there? What is student life like in Heidelberg? Are there many international students?” You may encounter these and many other questions if you support Heidelberg University at university fairs and information events. As a former Heidelberger, you can report first-hand on your own experiences from your time at the Neckar and inspire others to study or research in Heidelberg. With your support, we will be able to raise the profile of our university worldwide. In cooperation with the service portal for students and the colleagues from the Division of International Relations, we will prepare you for your commitment and provide you with information and materials, for example. The most important thing, however, is your personal experience and impressions, which you can pass on to other interested parties.
Since 2008, members of the alumni association Heidelberg Alumni Luxembourg (HALU) have been represented at the “Foire de l'Etudiant” student fair and regularly promote a study or research stay at Heidelberg University. In Asia, the Heidelberg University Office Kyoto (HUOK) is primarily supported by young alumni from the Heidelberg Alumni Japan (HAJP) group. Together with Heidelberg exchange students who are currently in Japan, they promote studying in Heidelberg and provide information about their Heidelberg experiences at local Study Abroad Fairs. The American alumni of the Heidelberg Alumni U.S. (HAUS) group support the Heidelberg office in New York at Study Fairs, which are for example organised at Goethe Institutes across the country.
Another path leads committed alumni to German schools abroad. There they seek direct contact with school leavers and provide information about the various study opportunities at Ruperto Carola. Since the late 1990s, Heidelberg alumnae and alumni have been using this approach to inspire international pupils from German schools in Lebanon and Greece to attend the university. In Mexico, many years of involvement with the German schools have also led to Heidelberg student teachers being able to complete a school internship there in return. This has also encouraged the Mexican alumni club Heidelberg Alumni Mexico (HAMEX) to offer Heidelberg students opportunities for internships abroad in Mexico beyond the teacher training programmes.
