Subject area – Earth SciencesAlumni Earth Sciences as a new subject area group under the umbrella of HAI

We are pleased to welcome a new subject area group under the umbrella of HAI: the Alumni Group of the Institute of Earth Sciences.

This is open not only to all current and former students, researchers, staff and lecturers of the institute, but also to alumni of the predecessor institutes: The Institute of Earth Sciences was created in 2008 from the merger of the Institute of Geology and Palaeontology, the Institute of Environmental Geochemistry and the Institute of Mineralogy.

Anyone who would like to stay in touch with the institute and former lecturers and fellow students worldwide is cordially invited to become a member of the new alumni group and benefit from its activities and network: Members stay up to date with the latest research at the institute and have the opportunity to exchange ideas with researchers as well as professional students from different countries, institutions and academic disciplines. They receive access to the institute's colloquium series, workshops and conferences as well as information on news and events such as the annual Barbara Festival. Conversely, the network offers the institute the opportunity to open up geoscientific career fields for graduates through its members and to arrange internships and theses for students. If interested, alumni can also support the institute at practical and career-related events and, for example, report on their day-to-day work in the geosciences at the Student Information Day and share their professional experience with the next generation as mentors for current students.
