Visit Mark Twain Center “Join the Story”

The first network meeting of Heidelberg University's holders of the Germany Scholarship at the beginning of the year took us to the Mark Twain Center in Heidelberg on 23 January, 2025.

The permanent exhibition “Join the Story” allows visitors to immerse themselves in decades of German-American relations in Heidelberg. The interactive guided tour via tablet opens up countless historical insights in every room of the former headquarters of the US Army. The eyewitness reports in particular allow visitors to immerse themselves directly in the past and share in the experiences described.

Since 2018, the Mark Twain Center for Transatlantic Relations has been established alongside other cultural and leisure facilities in Heidelberg’s “Südstadt” as a vivid place of remembrance on the site of the areas used for military purposes until 2005.

In one room, the scholarship holders had to make their own smart political decisions - how far do you get with diplomacy? A strategic challenge - even if only at the gaming table.
