Erasmus+ KA 171 Student mobility
As part of the "International Dimension" - Erasmus+ KA 171, Heidelberg University has funds available to support student mobility at the universities listed below.
- Israel, Hebrew University, Call 2023 - interdisciplinary
- Israel, Weizmann Institute of Science, Call 2023 - Biosciences, Physics
- Egypt, Cairo University, Call 2023 - German as a Foreign Language Philology, Languages and Cultures of the Middle East
- Western Balkans, University of Sarajevo, Call 2022 - interdisciplinary
- Western Balkans, University of Montenegro, Call 2022 - interdisciplinary
Who can apply for funding?
To be eligible for an ERASMUS mobility grant, you must be enrolled (as a student or doctoral candidate) at Heidelberg University. You must be in at least your third semester of study at the start of your planned studies abroad. The following students are eligible for ERASMUS scholarships:
- Nationals of an EU member state or another country participating in the ERASMUS program
- Students who are officially recognized by Germany as refugees, stateless persons and permanent residents (permanent residence permit)
- Non-EU nationals, provided they are pursuing a full degree at Heidelberg University
The ERASMUS scholarship can be combined with the receipt of BAföG and scholarships from public foundations. However, parallel funding for study abroad from other EU programs is excluded.
General selection criteria include Motivation, previous academic achievements and expert reports. Please note that the EU provides special funding for participants with disabilities or restrictions.
How can I apply for ERASMUS+ funding?

Selection usually takes place from January for stays abroad in the coming academic year, i.e. for the winter semester of the same year and for the summer semester of the following year. For subject-specific Erasmus+ KA 171 places, you can also obtain further information from the subject coordinator, via notices at the institute or information on the homepage of your institute.
Once your application documents have been received, you will usually be invited to a short selection interview in which representatives of the subjects and the International Relations Department will take part. If your application is successful, you will be nominated by the department at the host university.
