Heidelberg University Ruperto Carola Summer Party
4 July 2022
Members, friends, supporters and alumni of the university met for an exuberant party in the heart of the Old Town
This appeal from the Rector did not go unheard: “Let’s have a good time together,” said Prof. Dr Bernhard Eitel at the start of the Ruperto Carola summer party. After a break of two years due to the pandemic the time had finally come, on 1 July 2022. Members, friends, supporters and alumni of the university met in the heart of the Old City for a swinging summer evening – with the motto “reunited”. And the historical Marstall courtyard became a place of revelry with conversations and plenty of music and dancing.
The Art Donuts band and Riccardo Mellini alias DJ R1CCONE guaranteed that, after the obligatory opening waltz, the dance floor was never empty until the hour of midnight struck – with only one interruption when students from the Institute for Sports and Sports Sciences “held the floor” with their dance and rope skipping performances. Finally, listeners had a surprise with a “goose-pimple” moment when members of the Collegium Musicum, i.e. the university orchestra and choir, rendered the Oscar-winning song “Moon River” under the baton of University Music Director Michael Sekulla. Studierendenwerk Heidelberg catered for participants’ culinary needs.
