Ranking Universität Heidelberg: Successful Placement in Times Higher Education Rankings

Ruperto Carola is ranked among the world’s “Top 50” and one of the top three universities in Germany
Heidelberg University is one of the top three universities in Germany: the 2024/2025 Times Higher Education World University Rankings place Ruperto Carola third after the two universities in Munich. Ranking 47th internationally as in the previous year, it is among the world’s “Top 50” – one of only three German universities to earn that distinction, along with Technical University of Munich (26th) and Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (38th). In the Europe-wide comparison, Ruperto Carola is placing 13th in the THE Rankings, improving by one place compared to the year before.
The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, published on 9 October 2024, are based on a total of 18 different indicators. They are grouped into five areas of performance. These are, above all, teaching (learning environment), research environment and research quality. Other areas analyzed include aspects of internationalization and industry. This year’s THE Rankings feature 2,092 institutions from 115 countries/regions.
