Offers of the Dual Career Service

Heidelberg University sees itself as a family-friendly employer. As part of its successful future concept in the Excellence Initiative of the German federal and state governments, the Dual Career Service supports the partners of newly appointed professors and newly hired postdocs in connecting with their own careers.

The Dual Career Service offers:

  • Detailed initial interview with personal location analysis and clarification of career aspirations
  • Information on potential employers in the region and job searches
  • Advice on the professional design of application documents
  • Support during the application process
  • Close collaboration with cooperation partners in the region and with university service facilities, e.g. Welcome Centre, Family Service, Equal Opportunities
  • Participation in internal seminars, if applicable

In a personal counselling interview, we will discuss your career ideas and goals and develop the next steps together.
We will also be happy to help you find the right contacts for all matters relating to your move, childcare and life in Heidelberg.

To be accepted postdocs must:

  • be a new hire or a research fellow in scientific service at Heidelberg University
  • have a contract period of at least 24 months


Please note:
There are numerous employers in and around Heidelberg. However, please understand that we cannot guarantee you a job. Our support and counselling services last a maximum of 12 months.
We would also like to point out that good German language skills are generally required on the German labour market.
