The HCDH is managed by a board of directors consisting of members of the HCDH with two representatives in each of the profile areas of: 

- Digital Heritage,

- Digital Linguistics and

- AI/Machine Learning (IWR).

Another voting member of the board of directors is the scientific director.

The board of directors is responsible for the further development of digital humanities at Heidelberg University and represents the interests of the HCDH internally and externally.

The executive director of the HCDH is Prof. Dr. Vahram Atayan.

The managing director is Dr. Nele Schneidereit.

Dr. Florian Nieser is the scientific director of the Heidelberg Center for Digital Humanities (HCDH). He studied German and theology at the University of Tübingen, where he continued his education in the field of digital humanities. He also completed his doctorate in the field of hero semiotics in Middle High German and Old French texts in Tübingen. From 2022 to 2024 he was managing director of the HCDH, where he previously worked as founder and academic coordinator of the Digital Humanities Forum from 2020. His research focuses include transmediality, game studies and digital humanities.

Prof. Dr. Anette Frank is a researcher in computational linguistics with a background in linguistics and computer science. Her research focuses on corpus-based statistical approaches to semantic and discourse processing and applications based on them. These include natural language understanding, information access, and NLP for cultural heritage. She is also concerned with the areas of digital and computational humanities.

Prof. Dr. Vahram Atayan is head of the French department at the Institute for Translation and Interpreting (IUED) and executive director of the HCDH. His focuses are applied linguistics, translation and interpreting, and digital and computational humanities. He is a member of the sub-project INF “Home data: research infrastructure and multilingual modeling” in the Collaborative Research Center 1671 "Homeland(s): phenomena, practices, representations" funded by the DFG.

Prof. Dr. Georgia Koppe is part of the Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing (IWR) and forms a bridging professorship between machine learning and digital humanities. Her research group “Machine Learning Human Behavior” focuses on research of human cognition and human behavior. She also works in the field of scientific computing.

Prof. Dr. Roland Herzog is director of the Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing (IWR) and professor of mathematics at the University of Heidelberg. His main areas of focus include scientific computing and machine learning. He founded the Scientific Computing and Optimization (SCOOP) group at the IWR.

Prof. Dr. Christiane Brosius is Professor of Ethnology and South Asian Studies at the Center for Asian and Transcultural Studies in Heidelberg. Her current research focuses on a documentation project on Nepal's historical and cultural heritage, cultural heritage as place-making, and digital heritage.

Prof. Dr. Christian Witschel is Professor of Roman History in Heidelberg and Managing Director of the Heidelberg Center for Cultural Heritage (HCCH). He is also a member of the Research and Strategy Commission of the University of Heidelberg. His research focuses include the history of the 3rd century AD, the cultural heritage of humanity (communication aspects) and digital heritage.
