Jennifer Moldenhauer joined the Research Council Field of Focus 3 for Collection Research at Heidelberg University in 2024. Her work focuses on (digital) strategy development, exhibition curation, and third-party funding consulting.
Previously, she worked as a curator resp. assistant curator at the following institutions, among others:
- Sculpture Collection and Museum of Byzantine Art, Bode Museum, Berlin
- Museum August Kestner, Hanover
- Garrison Church Foundation, Potsdam
- King’s College London, as part of the Visual Commentary on Scripture project
In these roles, she was responsible for the conception and realization of (digital) special and permanent exhibitions, among other tasks.
From 2013 to 2020, she also worked as an adjunct lecturer in Christian Archaeology and European Art History at the Universities of Münster, Greifswald, and TU Berlin.

Main Areas of Research
Her research focuses on the material culture of the Mediterranean region, particularly late antique, Byzantine, and early Islamic art in Egypt. Other research interests include collection and provenance research as well as curatorial academic outreach.
She is a founding member of the Network for Curatorial Academic Outreach, established in Berlin in 2024.
Within NFDI4Objects, she co-leads the TWG Provenance Research in the field of Textile Archaeology alongside Dr. Katarzyna Lubos (University of Bonn), working at the intersection of the Community Clusters Archaeological Textiles and Digital Provenance Research.
