New offer by Heidelberg Research Service Coordinator Support for EU Joint Research Projects

For joint research projects under the current EU research framework programme Horizon Europe, one of the project partners takes on the role of coordinator. The Heidelberg Research Service in the Research Division supports researchers in applying for and implementing EU joint research projects that are coordinated at Heidelberg University. The focus is on projects in the second pillar of Horizon Europe as well as ERC Synergy Grants and MSCA Doctoral Networks.

Heidelberg University is offering a new service as part of its Heidelberg Research Service to support EU joint research projects that are coordinated in Heidelberg. This service focuses on calls for proposals in the second pillar of the current EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, Horizon Europe. Under the heading ‘Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness’, there are six different thematic clusters - with topics such as health, culture, security, digital, climate and nutrition - in which funding totalling several million euros is announced at regular intervals for international consortia of scientists and their research institutions. The new service also targets the ERC Synergy Grant and MSCA Doctoral Networks funding lines of the first pillar of Horizon Europe.

The coordination of consortia that apply for such funding and, if successful, carry out the projects over several years is extremely prestigious. It offers scientists the opportunity to play a leading role in shaping international research initiatives on current scientific, social and technological challenges and to lead them to success. At the same time, the role of coordinator involves a great deal of organisational and administrative work for the project leaders. To relieve this burden, the Heidelberg Research Service offers close support for EU joint research proposals and projects coordinated in Heidelberg.

During the application phase, the Heidelberg Research Service advises on all aspects of the application, provides support with organisation and communication within the consortium, as well as with the electronic submission of applications via the EU Funding and Tenders Portal. In the event of a successful application, the Heidelberg Research Service offers a part-time position (15-33%) in the project to take on tasks in consortium coordination, project management, reporting towards the EU and internal and external communication. Corresponding funds to finance this position in the Heidelberg Research Service must be included in the budget when submitting the application to the EU.
