The basic modules equip students with a solid understanding of fundamental biological principles, as well as key competencies. Topics covered include biodiversity and the evolution of plants and animals, physiology and developmental biology as well as biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology. Courses cover experimental techniques, and a broad range of methods used in modern biological research.
Course Structure
At the end of the Bachelor’s degree, students must complete a Bachelor’s thesis and present it in an oral defence. The course enables students to develop a specialism by selecting specific courses, placements and seminars.
Possible specialisms include:
- Molecular biology
- Cellular biology
- Biophysics
- Molecular plant sciences
- Biodiversity / Evolution and ecology
- Parasitology / Virology
- Neurobiology
- Developmental Biology
- Systems Biology
