Course Content
The Bachelor’s degree programme East Asian studies uses interdisciplinary approaches to convey specific knowledge and vocational skills, including cultural competence, and familiarises students with new media. The aim of the degree programme is to create a practical connection between linguistic and cultural competencies. The course consists of a general East Asian studies component, a language component, a specific component that focuses on China, Japan or East Asian art history, a supplementary subject and an additional component in which students acquire general and vocational qualifications.
Course Structure
The academic programme consists of a core component and a supplementary component.
The core component includes East Asian studies and is divided into three sub-components
- Language competence (Chinese or Japanese)
- Regionally specific competencies (Chinese studies, Japanese studies or East Asian art history)
- Subject-specific competence
The supplementary components consists of
- the scientific minor subject (disciplinary competence)
- acquisition of generic and vocational qualifications (cross-disciplinary skills)
- practical vocational activity
A study period abroad in the selected language area is strongly recommended.
