Course Content
The Protestant Theology degree programme component of the Master of Education (profile ‘teaching degree Gymnasium’) provides students with comprehensive pedagogical skills in the area of theology and religion as an element of a holistic education, which also includes critical reflection upon and development of the students’ personal characteristics and attitudes toward religion in the context of the their future roles as Religion teachers.
Course Structure
- Expansion of specialised knowledge in two theological disciplines: Two major seminars of the student’s choosing, whereby during the Bachelor’s and Master’s studies, at least one exegetical major seminar must be attended.
- Intertwining of specialised knowledge and methodology with concepts from research-based specialised didactics: Students will attend specialised overview lectures (Old Testament, New Testament, Church History, Systematic Theology, or Religious Studies) as well as a preparatory seminar on the particular topic presented in the lecture.
- Specialised Didactics Module: Major seminar in Religion Pedagogy, including development of a teaching plan and the practical semester.
- Master’s colloquium: Oral examination in two theological disciplines; topics will be agreed upon in advance.
