Study models with individual speed Paths to Part-Time Studies
The part-time study option is targeted at students who are registered as full-time students as well as at new students aiming to start part-time studies.
Non-EU foreigners with a residence permit for study purposes are advised to contact the Student Counselling Service for International Students before applying for part-time study.
For NEW STUDENTS
Your path to part-time studies:
Step 1:
Apply for a university place. Your application for a part-time university place is no different from the usual application procedure.
Once you have been admitted, develop your custom plan for your periods of studies with the academic advisory service. This is required for admission to part-time studies. Individual departments may require further proof.
Step 3:
During registration, submit your application for admission to part-time studies and the plan for your periods of studies as compiled with the academic advisor to the Student Administration. You will then be admitted for part-time studies.
For students
If you are already a full-time student, you can switch to part-time studies.
Step 1:
Develop your custom plan for your periods of studies with the academic advisory service. This is required for admission to part-time studies. Individual departments may require further proof.
Step 2:
Submit your application for admission to part-time studies and the plan for your periods of studies as compiled with the academic advisor to the student administration office by the start of lectures. You will then be admitted for part-time studies.
Notice:
In the case of a combination of several subjects, either both major subjects must be offered part-time or the part-time subject must be a major subject with a subject share of 75%. In the case of a combination of two majors, you must draw up a study plan for each of the two subjects with the student advisory service and submit it with the application for admission to part-time study.
You can complete your entire degree programme part-time, but you can also switch between full-time and part-time during the course of your studies. However, the part-time programme has a minimum duration of one academic year. If you wish to continue studying part-time after the academic year, you must submit a new application for admission to part-time study during the re-registration period.
