Transfer Mission
The University of Heidelberg strives to enable society's participation in scientifically generated knowledge and to transform research results into applications. These goals have become even more important through the university's success in the Excellence Strategy of the federal and state governments.
With a comprehensive concept for the fields of action application, consulting and communication, the university has placed knowledge and technology transfer at the centre of its development strategy. In line with the concept of the comprehensive research university, it aims to cover the wide field of transfer – from managing intellectual property to the manifold aspects of science communication. With its scientific expertise, Heidelberg University seeks to serve as an innovation driver adding to solutions for global challenges.
The increased promotion of knowledge and technology transfer is expected to lead to a substantial increase in cooperations with industrial partners, the initiation of (social) entrepreneurial activities, improved performance in patenting, licensing and spin-offs, a sustainable development of entrepreneurship education, a visible increase in knowledge transfer to a large number of social actors, as well as increased visibility of the university's successes and its social relevance on a local, national and international level.
