Sustainability in University Operations Photovoltaic Installations

There are four photovoltaic systems installed on the roofs of buildings on the Neuenheimer Feld Campus, with a total output of 172 kWp (kilowatt peak). 15 additional systems are in the planning stage. In 2023 the university produced 76,780 kilowatt hours of electricity – roughly 0.1 per cent of its total power requirement – using photovoltaic systems. The university reviews the possibility of installing solar power systems on all new and renovated buildings, as mandated by state law, and implements a climate-friendly and sustainable use of roof space whenever possible.
