- Born in Liege (Belgium).
- 1993-1997: BA/MA studies in German/English at the University of Liege. Subjects: German languages and literatures; English languages and literatures; Old Norse.
- 1995-1996: One-semester study visit to the University of Bamberg.
- 1997-2000: BA/MA studies in Oriental Studies at the universities of Liege and Ghent. Subjects: Ancient Hebrew, Arabic, Akkadian, Sumerian, Semitic philology.
- 1999-2000: One-year study visit to the University of Cambridge. Subjects: Ancient Hebrew, Aramaic, Semitic philology.
- 2000-2001: Employed as research assistant at the University of Ghent. Research areas: Ancient Hebrew, Aramaic and comparative linguistics of Semitic languages.
- 2002-2006: Four-year doctoral scholarship by NWO (Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Reseach) at the University of Leiden (Netherlands). Ph.D. programme in Hebrew/Aramaic linguistics (promotor: Prof. Dr. T. MURAOKA). Research topic: Syntax of the Aramaic dialect of Targum Jonathan.
- 2006-2008: Employed as research assistant at the Department of Languages and Cultures of the Near East - Semitic Studies - Heidelberg University.
- January 2008: Ph.D. degree, University of Leiden. Title of the doctoral thesis: Studies in the Syntax of Targum Jonathan to Samuel.
- 2008: Appointed assistant professor ("akademischer Rat auf Zeit") at the Department of Languages and Cultures of the Near East - Semitic Studies - Heidelberg University. Habilitation (post-doctoral thesis) in progress (see below).
