Parthian Imperial Control and Local Agency in the Central Zagros Highlands

Im ersten Jahrtausend v. Chr. bis zum frühen ersten Jahrtausend n. Chr. war das zentrale Zagros-Hochland ein internes Hinterland des Partherreiches mit einer eigenen Kultur und Politik. Dieses grenzüberschreitende (Iran-Irak) Projekt zielt darauf ab, eine zusammenhängende archäologische Landschaft von Osten nach Westen über das Gebirge hinweg zu rekonstruieren.
In the first millennium BC–early first millennium AD, the central Zagros highlands were an internal hinterland of the Parthian Empire, with its own distinct culture and politics. This cross-border (Iran-Iraq) project aims to reconstruct a contiguous archaeological landscape from east to west across the mountains.

Das Projekt erforscht einen großen Siedlungskomplex aus der Partherzeit im Zagros-Gebirge in Irakisch-Kurdistan. Dieses regionale Zentrum kontrollierte strategische intermontane Routen und war ein Ort des Kontakts zwischen seinen Vasallenherrschern und der umliegenden Hochlandbevölkerung.
The project explores a large Parthian-era settlement complex in the Zagros Mountains of Iraqi Kurdistan. This regional centre controlled strategic intermontane routes and was a venue for contact between its vassal ruler’s and surrounding highland populations.
