Welcome to the Centre for East Asian Studies (ZO) of Heidelberg University!
The centre was established in 2005 by integrating the institutes of Chinese Studies, Japanese Studies and East Asian Art History as well as the Korean Language Studies. This integration resulted in an excellent framework for organisation, research and teaching.
Freedom?! The University as a Space for Discourse
The Ruperto Carola Lecture Series for the current winter term 2024/25 is titled “Freedom?! The University as a Space for Discourse”. By discussing the crucial role universities play in building and strengthening democratic societies, the lecture series picks up the theme of the current year of science, freedom.
