Prof. Dr. Silke Leopold
Prof. Leopold has taught at Harvard University and the College of Music in Detmold, Germany, in addition to other institutions. Her research focuses on the area of vocal music of the Renaissance and Baroque periods.
In 1986, the Royal Musical Association awarded her the Dent Medal. Prof. Leopold is also chairperson of the Foreign Relations Commission of the Society of Music Research, a member of the Academy of Mozart Research of the Mozart Foundation of Salzburg and a member of the Heidelberg Academy of the Humanities and Sciences (Heidelberger Akademie der Wissenschaften).
In addition to numerous articles on the history of music (15th to 20th ct.), her publications include: "Claudio Monteverdi und seine Zeit," "Die Oper im 17. Jahrhundert," "Who's who in der Oper" (with R. Maschka), "Oratorienführer" (edited with U. Scheideler), „Händel. Die Opern“ and „Ich will Musik neu erzählen. René Jacobs im Gespräch mit Silke Leopold“.
