Germany ScholarshipWhat is the Germany Scholarship?

The Germany Scholarship is awarded once a year in the winter semester at Heidelberg University on the basis of the selection decision of a neutral selection committee by the Rector of Heidelberg University. Contrary to the BaföG which focuses on mass funding, the scholarship is a non-income-related program which supports high-achieving students of all nationalities.

In addition to good performance at school (new students) and during studies, the award criteria include volunteer activities as well as special personal or family circumstances such as a disability, a non-academic family background or a migrant background.

The amount of the scholarship is 3,600 euros per year and thus 300 euros per month. Half the award is paid by the federal government, and private donors cover the rest. The scholarship period of usually two semesters can only be extended until the end of the standard period of study if requirements are met.
