Service and Advice Learning Languages
There are many advantages to learning a new language: You can study, work or travel abroad and communicate with people from other countries. As well as German language courses, Heidelberg University offers a number of other opportunities to help you learn and further your knowledge of a foreign language.
Take your pick - Spanish, French or Russian? The courses and tandem partner scheme offered by the Language Centre (Zentrales Sprachlabor, ZSL) at the heiSKILLS Competence and Language Centre give students the chance to learn a range of languages. International students are required to demonstrate sufficient knowledge of German before commencing study at Heidelberg University. The University offers a wide range of German language courses designed to support international students in their efforts to learn German.

Language preparation at the University of Heidelberg
The "Kolleg für deutsche Sprache und Kultur" of the ISZ offers intensive German language courses at various levels (elementary, intermediate and advanced; A1-C1). There are specific courses designed to prepare students for the German proficiency examination (DSH) and the entrance examination of the Studienkolleg.
