Offers for international students DAAD Prize for foreign students
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) provides the universities with funds each year to award the DAAD Prize for Foreign Students. The prize is endowed with 1,000 euros and is awarded to a foreign student at Heidelberg University who has distinguished himself/herself through special academic achievements as well as remarkable social and intercultural commitment.
Since 1995, Heidelberg University has already honored 28 foreign students who have gone above and beyond their special academic commitment in and for their new home country. This is by no means a matter of course.
Studying abroad, which is usually not completed in the mother tongue, requires great dedication, passion and perseverance, especially when such outstanding academic achievements as those of our award winners are achieved.
The fact that they also have the energy and the will to get involved in voluntary work shows that a real exchange between cultures is of particular importance to these students, in which the guest takes a piece of Germany back home with them, but above all leaves something of themselves behind in Germany.
We award the DAAD Prize to foreign students for this conviction and drive.
The award ceremony usually takes place as part of the annual DAAD scholarship holder reception. The Vice-Rector for International Affairs of the University and Dr. Michael Harms as DAAD liaison partner of Heidelberg University welcome the scholarship holders.
