Carmen Wintergerst completed her Bachelor's degree in European Studies at the University of Passau in 2017 before working in the Irish tourism industry for a year. She completed her Master's degree in Political Science at Heidelberg University in December 2020. Since January 2021, she has been a PhD candidate at Heidelberg University under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Aurel Croissant. Her PhD project investigates executive aggrandizement in Southeast Asia. Her research interests lie in the fields of comparative politics, (non-)violent resistance, civil-military relations, democratization, and autocratization, with a regional focus on Asia. Since April 2018, Carmen Wintergerst has been working as a research assistant at the Institute of Political Science at the chair of Prof. Dr. Croissant. Further information can be found in her CV.
