The Research Alumni Network was created for current and former visiting researchers in Heidelberg as well as for researchers with a Heidelberg background working abroad. More than 400 members from a wide range of disciplines and countries is using this special service within Heidelberg Alumni International.
HAI is the central alumni initiative of the university - the worldwide network for all former and current students, researchers, administrative and teaching staff. Since 1996, HAI offers its members in collaboration with its professional, national and international alumni groups a varied assortment of services, information, activities and events online in HAInet, in Heidelberg, in Germany and worldwide.

Two Additional ERC Grants for Heidelberg
Mathematician Prof. Dr Anna Wienhard and molecular biologist Prof. Dr Henrik Kaessmann have been awarded a prestigious grant of the European Research Council (ERC) for outstanding scientists, an ERC Advanced Grant. Funding of around 4.5 million euros is available for their research projects on symmetries in mathematics and the evolution of the vertebrate brain. [More...]

Longterm Himalayan Glacier Study
The glaciers of Nanga Parbat have been shrinking continually since the 1930s. This is shown by a long-term study in which researchers from Heidelberg combined historical photographs, surveys and topographical maps with current data and were thus able to visualise glacier changes. [More...]
