The courses offered in cooperation with the university's heiSKILLS Competence and Language Centre are not only open to all alumni, but in some cases also to their partners. Online courses "German as a foreign language" for HAI members and partners
Your stay in Heidelberg was some time ago, there is little left of the German you learned back then and you could do with a refresher for your next holiday? Or do you simply want to delve deeper into a foreign language and learn it systematically? Then the online courses for German as a foreign language at the International Study Centre (ISZ) are just the thing for you!
Many of you are probably already familiar with the ISZ's language courses from your time as a student in Heidelberg. Now, as an alumnus registered with HAI, you can take language lessons there (again) – and this offer is even open to your partner. The courses, which are organised as online video conferences, are offered for all levels from A1 (zero beginner) to C2 (advanced) and train the four basic skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. In addition, information about the country is provided.

If you have not attended a course at the ISZ in the previous semester, you will first need to take an online placement test. This test will take place on 8 October 2024 at 18:00 (CET).
New course “Business English” in the winter semester 2024/2025
Would you like to brush up on your English skills and expand your professional skills? In the winter semester 2024/2025, we are offering the "Business English - Niveau B2" course for the second time exclusively for all HAI members. The course, which is aimed at advanced learners, goes beyond traditional language lessons and provides the necessary tools to feel confident in various business contexts. The curriculum includes key skills such as advanced communication strategies, professional presentations and mastery of business correspondence. The course is offered in cooperation with the Central Language Laboratory (ZSL) as part of heiSKILLS, the Language and Competence Centre of Heidelberg University.

New And exclusively for Alumni: competences in Business Administration
For the first time, we are offering four modules on applied business administration in cooperation with heiSKILLS exclusively for all our alumni. During the courses, which take place in March and April 2025, you can acquire basic business administration knowledge through to specialised knowledge in strategic management, marketing and human resources. The following modules are offered in detail:
- the basic module Introduction to Business Administration & Accounting (4 days)
- the advanced module Strategic Management (2 days)
- the advanced module Marketing: Introduction to Marketing, Strategic Marketing (4 days)
- the advanced module Human Resources: Introduction to Human Resources Management (2 days)
Each of the advanced modules requires attendance of the four-day basic business administration module or basic knowledge in the field of applied business administration. All four modules take place online. Participation is therefore flexible and possible from home.
