International students Enrolment in a Higher Semester
Master’s degree programmes
All degree programmes or subjects that are admission-restricted and non-admission-restricted for higher academic semesters require timely application before registration.
Please determine in advance which procedure your desired subject is assigned to.
Following successful admission, you will receive a request to accept your university place within a deadline displayed there in your heiCO account. If you do not accept your university place by the deadline, your entitlement to the place will lapse. Subsequently, you need to apply for registration online and by mailing in documents to the Student Administration before the registration deadline stated in the letter of admission/in the heiCO-portal.
If you were unable to submit the DSH evidence required for your degree programme in your application already, you need to document it at the latest at the time of your registration. If the DSH examination is not passed or not passed on the required level, and if there is no exemption on a statutory basis, registration for the degree programme named in the letter of admission must be refused.
Please note that the procedure for continuing-education Master’s degree programmes is not yet presented on this page. This information will be added in the future.
Please proceed as follows to register:
- Add any further data relevant for your enrolment under “Enrolment – Next steps” in your heiCO account. This will give you access to your application for enrolment.
- Add your health insurance details in your heiCO-Account.
Your insurance status will generally be transmitted electronically. In addition to entering your details in heiCO, you always – even if you have private insurance or come from a country with which the Federal Republic of Germany maintains a social security convention – need to contact a statutory German health insurance. Please request the “reporting reason M10 for Heidelberg University” from the statutory health insurance under university number H0003588. Please request this reporting reason M10 in time since submission of your insurance status to Heidelberg University will take up to 5 working days. You will not be able to enrol without this proof of insurance.
Notice: If the information for your health insurance has changed between your input in the application process and the report provided by your health insurance (or if you made a mistake while entering the details), the M10 report will overwrite your previous input. You will not need to request correction of the information provided in the application process from the university.
In return, the university will report the start and – later – the end of your course of studies to the health insurance companies. - Upload a passport photograph.
- Add any further data relevant for your enrolment under “Enrolment – Next steps” in your heiCO account. This will give you access to your application for enrolment.
- Please print your application for enrolment, sign it personally, and upload a scan of the complete document with your signature to heiCO. Additionally send the original of this document together with all documents you need (see below) to:
