The exact nature of the application and admission process for entry to an advanced academic semester in your desired undergraduate degree programme will depend, among other things, on your chosen subject, your university entrance qualification and the type of study entry. 

All applicants, regardless of citizenship and intended degree programme, must apply online via the heiCO portal of Heidelberg University.

Change of institution: Admission-restricted subjects

If you are applying for an admission-restricted subject, any previously gained credits, as well as social factors, relating in particular to health, family and economic reasons will be taken into account during the selection and admissions process.

Transfer: Admission-restricted subjects

If you are applying for a transfer, all available places will be allocated on the basis of the credits which applicants have previously gained.

Change of university: Subjects without admission restrictions

Some subjects have no admission restrictions for entry to an advanced semesters.

Transfer: Subjects without admission restrictions

Some Bachelor’s degree programmes and degree programmes culminating in a state examination, do not have admission restrictions for entry to advanced academic semesters.

Exchange of university places

It is possible to exchange university places at Heidelberg University for undergraduate degree programmes in Medicine and Dentistry.
